Richmond Briefing
A weekly Bible reading for Bridge Builders
The Bible is often neglected. Its authority and dependability is called into question and its truths frequently challenged. Our aim in this weekly Bible reading is to present gospel themes relating to the work of reaching out in discernment and love to those in the cults. We hope those who use them will be helped in focussing on truth, feeding their souls and simply enjoying God's Word to us in the Bible.
How to Read
Prayerfully, with a humble and penitent heart and a desire to learn and grow.
Taking time, not seeking simply to get it done but looking to get the most from it. It helps if you can have a regular time and place to do this. Habit is a great character builder.
Use a good translation (we recommend a modern accurate translation but do not prescribe any particular one).
Use a notebook to record your thoughts, what God has shown you, how you are challenged and inspired.
Read around the readings, looking up further references. Bible readings are meant to start you off on your own journey of discovery in God's Word.
Pray about what you have read. It helps focus our thoughts, listen to God, and remember what we have learned.
Read regularly, remembering that,
